Construction Industry Economic Outlook Survey

By CreditMan Tuesday, April 27, 2010

Businesses in the construction supply sector are optimistic about the short-term economic outlook according to specialist credit reference and debt recovery agency, Top Service Ltd. The company asked 1,200 of its 2,500 customers whether they thought 2010 would be a better year for their business than 2009 was. A third thought it would be about the same but more than half thought 2010 would turn out to be a better year. Commenting on the survey results Emma Bridges, a Director of Top Service said:

“After such a tough period in the construction sector it is heartening to hear that so many of our customers think that they are over the worst of the recession. It seems that the majority of those businesses that survived the winter are now looking forward to a more prosperous summer”.

Only 14% of those surveyed feared that 2010 would be worse, however, Emma warned that the sector is not out of the woods yet:

“The recession has left some companies in very vulnerable positions. Although the mood is optimistic we do expect to see some more high profile insolvencies before the year is out”.
