John Arnold, founder of Business Credit Management (UK) Ltd - CreditMan, started his credit control life on the 1st January 1970 after leaving banking.
He started in credit control as a Trainee Credit Controller with a large group of companies in the supply of materials in the UK construction industry and after training, was appointed as Credit Controller of one of the group’s trading subsidiaries.
John stayed with the company until 1974 when he joined a major shipping container company gaining experience in the fast paced world of import/export containerisation. A move to a major recruitment service company in March 1975 until 1979 enabled him to gain valuable experience of managing staff in a sizeable credit control department.
He then went back into shipping with P&O for 5 years, following which he worked for an expanding international air freight company before coming full circle back into the UK construction industry where he stayed for nearly 16 years as Credit Manager for a large group of companies.
‘Credit has been my life’ says John ‘and this website has hopefully been useful to credit and business professionals alike. I hope CreditMan goes from strength to strength’.
John was admitted as a Member of the UK’s Chartered Institute of Credit Management in 1981 and as Fellow in February 2007.
