ABI trade credit insurance guide welcomed by Atradius

By CreditMan Thursday, November 17, 2016

Atradius has welcomed steps taken by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) to raise awareness of the role of trade credit insurance.

The new Trade Credit Insurance Guide aims to inform businesses of the vital role that credit insurers play in facilitating trade both domestically and overseas. The ABI reports that its members insured £300bn of trade last year, protecting their businesses from the risks of non-payment.

Publication of the guide is very timely with growing economic uncertainty in many of the major countries. The guide showcases the benefits that trade credit insurers offer to UK businesses and the role played in enabling trade.

Alun Sweeney, UK & Ireland Director at trade credit insurer Atradius, said:

“The world is changing and uncertainty across political and economic landscapes has come to be the new norm. In this environment, robust risk management is more critical than ever and that is why it is important for businesses to be aware of the tools available to support them. Trade credit insurance is an enabler, protecting against the risks of non-payment, but also supporting businesses by providing access to information and sharing the wealth of knowledge we have at our fingertips.”

“With experts on the ground across the globe and business intelligence on 200 million companies, Atradius works with customers to identify new opportunities as well as to analyse risks. Our political, economic and cultural insights play a significant role in trade from the very beginning. Equipped with the right knowledge, mind-set and risk-management strategies, companies can confidently take huge strides whether they are trading with an established overseas trade partner or starting on a new export journey for the first time.”
