Nexus CIFS expands global risk capability

Specialty MGA the Nexus Group has announced that their leading credit insurer Nexus CIFS has appointed Tony Smith, a Credit Risk analyst and underwriter specialising in Export Risk, to the new position of Export Underwriting Manager.

Smith joins from AIG Europe Limited where he was Head of International Trade Credit Western and Central Europe and, additionally, he was responsible for supporting the development of business via AIG’s Dubai office which commenced at the end of 2013.

Bob Lilley, Managing Director of Nexus CIFS says:

“This is a major investment for us and Tony’s focus will be two fold, to deal with and resolve the growing export demands of our client portfolio and to expand our reach into new territories and accounts.”

Smith’s twenty five years’ experience also includes 13 years with Euler Hermes where he was Risk Underwriting manager from January 2004. During his time with the company, he fulfilled a number of international roles including regional representative on the Group Country Risk Committee. He also conducted numerous buyer visits across the globe, covering industries including paper, I.T., vehicles, multimedia, electronics, steel and retail. Prior to these roles, Smith held several in-house credit positions in well-known companies such as Charles Letts and the UK subsidiary of Mitsui.

Nexus CIFS, which trades as CIFS, is the trade credit subsidairy of Nexus Underwriting Management Ltd, one of the largest independent specialty Managing General Agents in the London market which has projected 2014 Gross Written Premium of more than US$ 100 million.

In 2013 Nexus CIFS won Credit Insurer of the Year at the Institute of Credit Management Awards and were finalists in 2014.
